How does a person in Colorado pay for college to become a teacher?

Options for High School Students:

  • : up to 48 credit hours FREE
  • : up to 48 credit hours FREE
  • : up to 39 credit hours FREE

Options for College and University Students

  • Earn money by serving as a paraprofessional and/or substitute teacher
    • Substitutes make an average of $145 per day with a high of $186 per day
    • Paraprofessionals make an average of $18.27 per hour with a high of $22.81 per hour
  • : up to 60 credit hours FREE
  • : $116 per credit hour for public colleges and $58 per credit hour for private colleges
  • : For the 2023–24 award year, the maximum Pell Grant through FAFSA award is $7,395
  • : up to $10,000
  • Colorado Center for Rural Education Student Teaching Stipend: $4,000
  • : up to $10,000
  • : $11,000 (semester residency) or $22,000 (year-long residency)
  • : Up to $1,500 
  • : Students who attend Colorado public institutions of higher education with family incomes of $90,000 or less are eligible for complete reimbursement of any out-of-pocket tuition and fees they pay
  • : variable living stipend
  • : variable scholarships and application fee reimbursements
  • Private Family Foundations: Consult with your college or university financial aid office
