Former graduate student Amy Burzynski recently published a paper on the use of artificial intelligence to classify and relate lava lake thermal patterns to eruption conditions at Kilauea volcano in Hawaii.
The paper, 鈥溾�� was published in December, 2018 in a special edition of the Geological Society of America called 鈥淔ield Volcanology: A Tribute to the Distinguished Career of Don Swanson鈥�.
The paper includes UNC coauthors Dr. Steven Anderson, Professor of Geology, and Dr. Katie Morrison, Associate Professor of Mathematics, as well as s Dr. Matt Patrick and s Dr. Tim Orr.
